Situation

As a Creative Writing MA student at the University of Kent in Paris, I was appointed editor of The Menteur, a student-produced literary and arts magazine. My goal was to enhance the publication’s reach by attracting global contributions and raising the university’s profile. The challenge lay in curating diverse, high-quality content from a broad pool of talent and delivering a cohesive magazine that showcased creativity across various mediums.

Solution

I developed and implemented a content strategy that encouraged international submissions. We received over 400 entries, from which 80 artists and writers were selected for the final magazine. In addition to overseeing the editorial process, I spearheaded the launch of an accompanying website to further showcase the contributors' work. We also produced a video featuring all the selected contributors, adding a multimedia dimension to the magazine’s presentation.

This strategy not only broadened The Menteur's audience but also helped elevate the University of Kent’s profile in creative circles globally.
